TONY'S MOVIE REVIEW: 'Don't Look at the Demon' Brings Evil to a Quiet Bukit in Malaysia

Set in the highlands of Malaysia, Don't Look at the Demon is a horror movie about possession, very much in the same vein of The Exorcist.  The cast is led by the bedraggled looking Fiona Dourif whose 'gifts' make her 'help' people who may need to be taken away from the clutches of the evil one.

The movie starts in a wat (temple) in Malaysia but the cast speaks in Thai, LOL.  Anyway, it said northern Malaysia though, so I assumed it was very near the border of Thailand.

Directed by Brandon Lee, whom I assume is an Asian-American director, the movie takes place in a house in one of Malaysia's bukits.  The whole movie happens in one house and the scenes of possession are quite graphic and violent - and for Catholics like me - it does scare us because we believe in the existence of the devil and demons and are well aware of the havoc they can create in our lives.

My whole family watched the movie and the consensus was that although it was not THAT scary, we enjoyed the set-up of the scenes and Fiona Dourif and Harris Dickinson are standouts.  Harris especially looks HOT HOT HOT as he was shirtless during his 'possession' scenes.  I know that sounds weird, but some guys are just lucky that way - they look demonically hot shirtless!

I hope Brandon Lee can progress to more horror movies and possibly take on Asian ghouls which we have plenty of.
