New Year Resolutions of a 48-Year Old Man

Well it is that time of year again when we try to make better versions of ourselves.  I do make resolutions from time to time so that my life will have some guideposts - the idea being, we have to continue to improve ourselves, even if we are not getting any younger anymore.

Anyway, I will be 49 years old by February this year and frankly, even if my body is aging, I still feel like a teenager LOL

I also want to take a snapshot of this moment in my life, because I have noticed that as one gets on with age, our outlook in life changes a little bit.  Well, I will leave that for you to judge.

Kidding aside, here are the things I want to resolve to do this year. Some of them are things I continue to do, and others are things I want to be able to do.

#1 Put God first.

This means going to mass every day and take that opportunity to talk to God about my plans, my fears, my goals, things that bother me that day.  That precious one hour with Him should give me the courage to put into action everything I want to achieve that day.

So I should keep in mind that when I plan my day, I should pencil in the mass first and everything goes around it.

#2 Exercise for my health

This should be done on a weekly basis.  So every Sunday, check your schedule and I will make sure I go to the gym every day for that week.  This year, I want to include a weekly yoga and swimming session, just to add flavor to my work out.  Also, I want to make sure I lift weights four times a week.  I also want to limit my work outs to just one hour per day since I work out everyday anyway.  I waste so much time in the gym as it is.

#3 Write everyday

Apportion time to write a blog post, write a part of my book, and write for my clients.

#4 Use my time wisely.

These past few years, I wasted so much feeling sorry for myself, so this new decade, since this will be when I spend my 50s here on earth, I want to maximize the productivity of the time and not waste it.  So many of my peers have achieved something and ako, nganga!

#5 Maximize social media exposure for business and blogs and vlogs.

Make sure my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook posts all jive together with the goal of making money and getting new fans to read my work

#6 Start V-logging

My brother has been pestering me to do this since 100 hundred years ago, so finally, this 2020, I want to be making regular Youtube vlogs to promote my writing business and my blog! So basically, I will have the following vlog topics - Math tutorials, writing tutorials, music countdown, movie reviews, album reviews.  I will be measuring my metrics weekly and hopefully earn from it after 6 months!

#7 Give time to my book

My brother has been asking me what my book will be about.  I think it will just be musings about my gay life and how it is to be gay during my time and my generation.  I think the voice of our generation has to be heard because today's young millennial gays have little appreciation of what freedoms they have now that we did not have before.

#8 Prioritize traveling to countries and local places I have never been before

I am such a lazy traveler. I always go to the SAME places!  So this year, I want to do a little shuffling and travel to places I have never been before.

#9 Use your God-given gifts for the betterment of society

#10 Eat fruits and vegetables.  Make them the priority when ordering food anywhere.

#11 Avoid sweets and softdrinks and make your resolve strong whenever I am tempted.

#12 Take note of tithing and give to the people I haven't given yet - Ate Susan, my godchildren sa kasal, si fruit vendor ang priorities this month.

#13 Offer free tutorials to public school kids of Roxas High School.

#14 Walk every chance you get, instead of taking Grab.

#15 Walk the dog.

#16 Sleep 8 hours every night.

So for January - I am planning on going to Jakarta!  Let's see if it pans out!

So that's it folks for my 2020 resolutions.  I will visit them from time to time this year.  Wish me luck!
